Chinese prints from Brugge
On the 6th of February 2008, the Chinese New Year, Erfgoedcel Brugge presented the sixth historical source to the press, which had come in great numbers. The Oosters Album is a gem from the collection of Joseph van Huerne. The album (late 18th – early 19th century) illustrates the great fascination of that time for exotic China. The colorful illustrations of day to day life are mostly made by three artists from Brugge (Ledouix, Steyaert and Verbrugge) but also contains several original Chinese pieces.   A special performance of a Chinese lion dance added luster to the presentation.

Pictura built a special book viewer that allows people to enjoy the images in great detail. You can also discover the album through several indexes such as for title or artist. The metadata is managed in Memorix, making the book viewer into a flexible instrument that can be enjoyed by the public and the scientific community both.
