| Festivities in Venray |
|
At 17:15 hours on friday the 2nd of November, the festivities could commence in Venray, also known as “Rooy” in Venray dialect, because Twan van Els and Koos Swinkels officially launched the Rooynet website. Rooynet is an initiative of the Venrayse Bibliotheek, museum ‘t Freulekeshuus, Historisch Platform Venray and the Gemeentearchief. Rooynet’s ambition is to become the memory of Venray. The Rooynet website offers digital collections of pictures, films, sound recordings and documents concerning Venray’s cultural heritage. Thanks also to the initiators and the local historical societies, the coming years will see Rooynet grow with historically interesting material from the area of Venray. On the Friday afternoon before the launch some 40 members of the historical societies and initiators, who will together be managing the collection in the future, followed two workshops to learn about the website's functionality. After the launch more was told about the website by project leader Marcel van Ewijk.
