Frisian Navigation Museum

When knowledge and expertise come together at the right moment, it can produce results to be proud of. Recently, 18,000 objects from the Frisian Navigation Museum were photographed on location and digitized in Heiloo by Pictura.

Experience and knowledge

The knowledge and experience of the museum personnel was invaluable for this enormous task. The photographs are searchable in an online Adlib database that has been made more customer friendly by Pictura. One of the added options is a filter function for the collection.

The museum

The Frisian Navigation Museum, located in Sneek, is an all-round museum about the history of Frisian navigation from the 17th to the 20th century. The museum provides insight in Frisian navigation and ship-building and in water recreation from the 19th and 20th century. The living habits of merchants and captains from Sneek and the Frisian southwest are also on display, just as the history of Sneek and its vicinity. The museum has about 23,000 visitors every year.
