A new look at Beeldbank Amsterdam

Beeldbank Amsterdam

The Stadsarchief Amsterdam has put a newly developed image bank into use, making the Stadsarchief the first in the Netherlands to use a brand new way of searching and retrieving images from their collection.

The new image bank now already shows images from the start, before any search request is made. Another addition is the filter option, enabling searching visitors to refine their search results.

The idea is that visitors only need to enter a single search request and can then click their way through the filter list.

The image bank from the Stadsarchief now contains approximately 225.000 images, many of which are topographical photos and blueprints from several different collections. At least 80.000 more topographical maps and blueprints will be added to that in the future.

The Stadsarchief Amsterdam tries to offer as complete a topographical coverage of the city as possible using the image bank. The image bank is a Memorix application and clearly shows the ease of a complete management environment. Its functionality shall be expanded in the near future.
