NRC Handelsblad | March 15th 2008In 1934 a woman peeks at the photographer from behind her curtain. She thinks nobody sees her. Almost 74 years later and using the image bank from Stadsarchief Amsterdam she gets caught after all.’

Caught by Arnoud Veilbrief of the NRC Handelsblad. On a quiet day at the office he browsed through the image bank of the Stadsarchief Amsterdam – made by Pictura – looking for old news.

‘I can spend hours on the image bank of the Amsterdam city archives. Tens of thousands of pictures and images, also from famous photographers such as Ed van der Elsken and Frits Weeda. All for free. And if I really like a particular image, I can have it printed for me.’ (NRC Handelsblad | March 15th 2008)
