March 20th 2008 Pictura presented its plans for AlleFriezen.nl at Tresoar in Friesland. A little over a year later, today on the 23rd of March, the site sees its festive opening at the hand of deputy Jannewietske de Vries in Wommels in the Frysian municipality Littenseradiel. Guest speaker is writer Geert Mak.

The digitization project is a combined initiative of the province of Fryslân, the participating municipalities, Streekarchivariaat Noord-Oost Friesland, Historisch Centrum Leeuwarden, Fries Historisch en Letterkundig Centrum Tresoar and Pictura. The project links the digitized images of the public civil registers to the index data of Tresoar. Thanks to the new site AlleFriezen.nl everyone can search through the acts online, starting today.

It took little effort to convince the Frysian municipalities of the worth of a single centralized management environment for the public civil registers. AlleFriezen.nl is part of a bigger whole: behind it all runs our management environment Memorix Genealogy with the databases for the public registers. These can also be searched using the website and can be linked to from the municipal websites.

Our account managers work hard to get all the Frysian municipalities on board. By now 17 out of the 31 municipalities have joined and 12 others have agreed to participate in the future.

Pictura digitizes and publishes the public registers and imports the indices of the registers that are stored at Tresoar. Memorix Genealogy is a Pictura product and the website was designed and built by us as well. Finally all digital images, the indices and the website are hosted by Pictura.
