Archiefbank wins Computable Award

Stadsarchief has won the Computable Awards 2008 prize for ICT Project of the Year. The prize was awarded for the archive bank, a project for which the Stadsarchief cooperates closely with Pictura.

Computable Award 2008Since 2006 the renowned IT journal Computable has been handing out awards for 15 different categories in the ICT world. Stadsarchief Amsterdam and Toutatis, that built their website, follow in the footsteps of the Ministry of Defense, which won the prize last year. With their election they leave behind large companies such as Air France-KLM and Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Stadsarchief Amsterdam’s Archiefbank is an enormous digitization project. Forty kilometers of archive ready to be scanned. The Stadsarchief chose to have 10,000 scans entered every week. For this, a scan-on-demand method was applied, where visitors of the archive determined which parts would be digitized first.

Scanning is done by Pictura, which is allowed to satisfy the weekly hunger of the visitors of the Archiefbank with 10,000 new scans each week. Pictura is proud that the Stadsarchief has entrusted her with such a large project.

Stadsarchief Amsterdam and Toutatis, congratulations with this prestigious award!
